All members of URSI Italy delegation received the bad news of the death of Prof. Siegfried Leschiutta, former Chairman of the Commission A; Roberto Sorrentino commented the news: "Anyone who has had the pleasure and honor to know him, has been impressed by the originality of his bright and briliant mind and by his frank, honest and strict nature. Election Board: The Member Committees are invited to nominate one candidate for each of the following six offices in URSI: the President, the four Vice-Presidents and the Secretary General. The elected Officers will serve until the end of the XXXIst General Assembly and Scientific Symposium in 2014.

Radio science encompasses the knowledge and study of all aspects of electromagnetic fields and waves. The International Union of Radio Science (Union Radio-Scientifique Internationale), a non-governmental and non-profit organisation under the International Council for Science, is responsible for stimulating and co-ordinating, on an international basis, studies, research, applications, scientific exchange, and communication in the fields of radio science..
1. To encourage and promote international activity in radio science and its applications, for the benefit of humanity;
2. to encourage the adoption of common methods of measurement;
3. to stimulate and co-ordinate studies of the scientific aspects of telecommunications;
4. to represent radio science to the general public, and to public and private organisations.
