Membership of URSI

The Members of the Union are the Committees, formed by Academies of Science or equivalent organisations, which adhere to the Union.

At present, one or more Member Committees have been formed in the following regions: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, China, Czech rep., Denmark, Egypt, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Norway, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Slovakia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom, USA and Yugoslavia.

Member Committees are not regarded by URSI as representing nations. Thus two of the above "regions" have two Member Committees each and one of the above, encompassing political independent states, has a single Member Committee. Each Committee pays an annual contribution which depends on the Category of membership in which it chooses to adhere.
