Dear Commission B Official Members and Representatives of Countries with Observer Status,

The time for the GA approaches rapidly and this will be my last letter to you all and it will deal mainly with the Commission B Business Meetings which are scheduled to take place during the GA. They are scheduled as follows ( cf <http://www.ursi-ga2002.nl/schedule.html>www.ursi-ga2002.nl/schedule.html )

The agenda covering these three meetings is briefly as follows:

2 ) Presentation of the Italian proposal to organise the 2007 EMTS; Discussion.

Choice of venue for the 2007 EMTS.

3 ) The Commission B Technical Advisory Board ( B-TAB ): its mission and rôle

Comments on the Agenda:

Item 1 ):

I do hope that those official members who did not participate in the vote by mail earlier this year will now be present and cast their vote. Note that if someone else from your country will represent you in this matter, the URSI secretariat must be notified about this in order for the vote to be counted. The vote needs to be completed during the first business meeting on Monday the 19th and the results will be reported to the URSI secretariat immediately thereafter.

Item 2 )

The Italian proposal to organise the 2007 EMTS in Pisa was sent to you as an attachment to my Letter no 10, dated 020523 ( no other proposal was received ).

Item 3 )

This is a follow-up of the discussion that started at the 2001 EMTS in Victoria, Canada ( cf the report from the Victoria business meeting that was attached to my Letter no 5, dated 010815 ). here your contribution is solicited to a discussion of how Commission B can improve its ways of operating, so as to make the best possible contribution to the scientific area of Fields and Waves and to URSI in general. Behind the suggestion to form the B-TAB was the conviction that we can and should do more and that it is imperative that more interested scientists are engaged in our future work. Both short and long term aspects are relevant here. We are very much looking forward to your contributions to this discussion. We expect to be able to start it during the second business meeting and then continue into the third one.

--------------

The Commission B business meetings are open to all interested parties and we ask you to encourage your colleagues to participate !

I look forward to meeting you in Maastricht.

Sincerely, Staffan Strom

Chair, Commisasion B
