AWARDS FOR YOUNG SCIENTISTS

Important information:

update 13 June:

1. The rooming list (with all details concerning room preferences and dates of arrival and departure) will be sent to the LOC who will take care of the hotel bookings for all YS for dates between August 9 and August 17. Once they have received this information, confirmations of your hotel bookings will be supplied by email. If you have not sent your details yet, please do so, on an urgent basis.
2. YS having single rooms will need to provide their credit card/payments directly to the hotel at check-in time, not only to cover the $100 per night, but also to cover incidentals (telephone calls, room service, ...); if you do not have a credit card, you have to pay in cash; for incidentals, you can either pay a cash deposit to guarantee incidentals, or you may elect not to have any charging privileges to your room
3. YS who have their institute or University paid for them (the extra cost for a single room) and who need an invoice should send their request to ingeursi@intec.ugent.be  (please mention addressee, address details and V.A.T. -registration)

update 6 June:

1. The local organizing committee will take care of making hotel reservations for all YS for all dates between August 9 and August 17.   If any YS intends to arrive before August 9 and/or depart after August 17, he/she is responsible for making his/her own hotel reservation for those extra nights.
2. Any YS who has made a hotel reservation on his/her own for dates between August 9 and August 17 should cancel that reservation immediately, to avoid a double booking.
3. Each YS will receive $50/day for up to 8 days of the conference to help with miscellaneous expenses.  So if a YS only stays for 5 days, he/she will receive $250, not $400.
4. Each YS should plan on attending the Young Scientists reception on Monday evening (August 11) on Lake Michigan.

6. We won't have an actual hotel confirmation code until later this month
7. If a YS has an accompanying person for a couple of days, he will need to agree to either a) cover the $100 for each night that he has a single room or b) move to a double with another YS

Young Scientists from developing or some East-European countries with an "x" in the "GRANT" column will receive a fixed travel grant.

All Young Scientists will receive an invitation letter from us with more details.
